A hair filler service is a discreet type of hair extension, using small amounts of real hair in specific areas to ‘fill in’ where more density is desired. Rather than adding extra length, it looks like your hair has been plumped up with a celebrity upgrade, a result that is super subtle yet impactful.
Hair fillers are perfect for those with finer hair types looking for natural fullness – or for individuals who might be experiencing the distress of hair thinning and hair loss caused by factors such as post-pandemic stress, or postpartum and menopausal hair loss. Fillers can also be placed to define a haircut such as strengthening the sides of a bob, where hair can naturally be weaker or to disguise areas of broken damaged hair.

Your journey begins with a visit to The Vanilla Room for a consultation in one of our exclusive private rooms. This will be with one of our expert hair stylists, trained by Great Lengths. Multiple shades will be expertly matched to your hair for an invisible blend. For this, we need your hair colour to be freshly updated and exactly as you like it, as your new fillers will last around 3-4 months. Subsequent regrowth colour appointments will then be tailored to work with where your additional hair is placed.
We have partnered with Great Lengths , the world leading professional hair extension supplier, who source their hair from India in a traceable, ethical and responsible way. We will provide you with a bespoke quote based on the number of fillers needed, the length of hair required and includes the correct Great Lengths homecare products and brush to ensure your extensions will be kept at their best.

On the day of application, after deep cleansing and drying, the fillers are attached near your roots with a keratin bond using a cold fusion ultrasonic machine with no heat required. Only a small amount of hair is attached to your natural hair, so the fillers are super lightweight with no tension caused to your hair and scalp. Once all the sections of hair are added, your Great Lengths trained expert will cut, blend and style the hair and give you lots of advice on how to look after your newly plumped up tresses.
You’ll need to wait at least 48 hours before you’re free to wash and style your hair at home, but then your fillers will simply grow down with your style. There is no need to visit us for any maintenance appointments unlike many other extension methods.
After 3-4 months, you return to us for removal and in most cases the application of new fillers – as that extra hair can be extremely addictive! The removal does not damage the hair. We use an oil-based product which softens the keratin bond and a removal tool which gently breaks down the bond and the fillers slide off. Because the additional hair is cut to blend at installation, it is customised to that visit and not suited to be reused, so we use new hair every time.
A benefit of wearing Great Lengths is that when the extensions are removed, clients can choose to donate them to the Little Princess Trust through their certified stylist. The charity provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other conditions.
How much do ‘hair fillers’ cost?
The service costs from £330 depending on the amount and length of hair needed. This includes initial consultation appointment, application on the day, full kit of Great Lengths homecare products, Great Lengths brush and a check-up appointment 2-3 weeks after application should this be required. For most people a budget of £330 – £450 will suffice. A 50% deposit is required to order the hair and secure the application appointment.
What can I do to maximise longevity of my fillers?
Use the Great Lengths sulphate free shampoo. Avoid conditioner at the roots to maximise the life span of the keratin bonds, which hold the additional hair in place. If you swim a lot, be aware chlorine can weaken the bonds, so will affect the lifespan. Do not leave the bonds to dry naturally, always blow dry the roots where the bonds sit. Do not use heated irons directly on the bonds but you can use heat to curl and style. If you are regular gym goer or get hot on the head, your homecare kit of products includes a PH balancing spray that should be used regularly to protect the bonds and keep them strong.
Where will my Capture appointment take place?
We understand that not everyone will feel comfortable in a salon environment and appreciate a little extra privacy. And so, our private rooms are ideal for those requiring additional hair from our Capture hair clinic. With services carried out by one Stylist and one assistant, each room has its own basin for an exclusive experience. You can choose to have the door open or closed and we even offer silent appointments for those who prefer not to chat.
Will I lose some fillers?
This is possible because of your natural hair shedding cycle; this is not unusual. Please be aware the section of natural hair supporting the extension will shed strands naturally. However, because the filler extension is bonded to the natural hair, loose strands that would normally have fallen away, will be encapsuled in the keratin bond. You will not lose them until the additional hair is removed.
Who is The Little Princess Trust?
The Little Princess Trust provides free natural hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years old, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions. When the extensions are removed, clients can choose to donate them to the Little Princess Trust through their certified stylist. The stylist will then send the donation directly to Great Lengths, who expertly prepare the hair, ready for the charity to receive. Only Great Lengths hair extensions donations will be accepted by the charity due to their ethicality and hair quality.
