Start spring cleaning with a hair detox

Clean hairbrushes
If your hairbrush’s bristles are lost in a sea of strands, it’s time to give it a good clean. Product build-up, dead skin cells, and loose hair all contribute to a hairbrush that not only looks unsightly but could also be doing your freshly washed hair more harm than good. The best way to give it a deep clean is to remove any hair, wash it in warm water with a little shampoo and rinse thoroughly.
Have a clear out of your products
Like make-up, hair products have an expiry date. Check whether anything you’ve had for a while has changed texture or has a funny smell. Out with the old and in with the new – it’s a perfect time to treat yourself to a new product when you next visit the salon.
Clean out your hair dryer filter
You wouldn’t let lint build up in your clothes dryer because the fuzzy build-up hurts your dryer’s performance and could lead to overheating (fire!). The same goes with your hair dryer. When it comes to cleaning a hair dryer it’s best to go online to find out how your dryer manufacturer suggests cleaning.
But in general, for most hair dryers, there is typically a latch at the far end of the dryer head. Unlatch (or unscrew if needed), then use a dry toothbrush to scrub out hair, dust, and flakes of dry skin that get trapped in the filter. You’ll be amazed at how much better your dryer works after cleaning!
