Vanilla Room customer of 18 years Jill Willis reviews the LVL Enhance length-volume-lift treatment to see if it is as good as the beauty journos and celebs claim…
When my TVR hair stylist mentioned a new lash treatment about to launch in salon, and said it promises to “add length, volume and lift to natural eyelashes. No extensions, no adhesive and no mascara” I took notice and asked to find out more!
I’m someone with fairly fine hair, and short, ultra straight lashes. Over the years I’ve tried to curl them, they drop. I’ve also tried individual eye lash extensions (fake lashes), but I don’t like how heavy they feel on my eye lids. So, I’d resigned myself to having mediocre lashes forever.
That’s why the Nouveau LVL Enhance (LVL = length.volume.lift) treatment sounded like it was perfect for me.
This is what to expect from the treatment…
To begin with (at some point 48 hours or more before 1st treatment) I had a quick skin patch test to make sure I wouldn’t react to the LVL solutions used. This was straight forward, and Billie happily popped down from the upstairs treatment room to see me whilst I was having my hair cut. She gently rubbed a cotton wool bud against my skin covering with a plaster, then patch tested the colour tint on my arm too, whilst explaining the in-depth training LVL Enhance therapists must pass to become accredited.
I felt really reassured by this level of professional testing, and confident in the high quality products.
BTW, did you know, if a therapist does not do this pre-testing it is highly likely they are NOT accredited to use LVL Enhance. You can also tell if a therapist is using real LVL Enhance products by taking a peek at the solution sachets. They’ll all be branded LVL Enhance and have strict use-by-dates to follow. Good to know if you care about what you put on your skin, and want the real LVL Enhance results (not simply a perm & tint).
Back to the treatment. It began with a personal consultation. We talked about the overall look I wanted to achieve, Billie considered the shape of my eye, my lash type and skin and hair colouring. She also made sure that I didn’t suffer from any eye irritability or sensitivity that may affect my enjoyment of the treatment. After cleansing my lashes, Billie applied a soft shield over my lower lashes (similar to the shield used in a lash extension) then asked me to close my eyes. This felt slightly wierd to start with, but after 60 seconds I was used to it and felt happy to relax, and keep my eyes shut for the rest of the 45-minute treatment.
Then my lashes were combed over the silicone shields on my upper lids. It’s the shield that sets the level of ‘lift’. There are three options to choose from, most dramatic (small shield), average (medium) and least dramatic (large). I opted for small shield, as my lashes are short and need plenty of lengthening, as well as lift. If you have fairly long lashes you might opt for medium, but your therapist would advise on the best for you.
I relaxed, while Billie really gently pulled my lashes up onto the shield, and applied the lifting lotion to the roots. It was then left to set for 10 minutes and afterward she applied the volume solution for a further five minutes, and then applied the tint to darken my lashes (I opted for Blue/Black as I wanted a dark look, but there’s lots of choices).
During this time I asked Billie why so many clients are now opting for LVL Enhance. She explained that it’s really similar to the reason so many ladies have switched from acrylic, to gel nails. It’s a gentle, natural treatment that adds nothing fake, and yet it has wonderful results. Perfect for ladies who find individual false lashes heavy, or who don’t like the extra weight it adds to their eye lids. Or for ladies who find false lashes irritating or cause sensitivity around the eye area, or are concerned about their natural lashes being damaged.
Finally she applied a moisturising serum. This just acts as a softener to help the lashes come off the shield. Then I opened my eyes and took a peek in the mirror.
Wowza! I can’t believe the end result! My lashes are long, curled and a pretty dark colour. Even when I wake with no make up on! I’ve already had lots of compliments. Even my husband noticed the difference, and he is usually useless.
Billie explained that the results will last between 6-8 weeks, and gave me a free lash comb to use daily, plus a helpful aftercare guide. 3 weeks on and my lashes are still looking fantastic, and for a night out I add mascara for real va va voom. LVL Enhance has now joined my pre-holiday prep list, alongside gel nails, and professional waxing. Thank you TVR, thank you Billie.
The treatment is £55, and I’ve picked up a salon LVL Enhance reward card which means I’ll save £25 over my next 6 treatments. Great stuff!
